Three new Serenity Tales!

After a nice long hiatus, "Serenity Tales" is back -- with three new installments (and a few more not too terribly far off). There's also a fairly massive update to the list of webcomics mentioning  "Firefly" and  "Serenity" -- which now clocks in with well over 70  references.

The new comics:

____________

Yarnteaser 1. "Yarn"

AUTHORS: Written by Mark Bourne; art by Neal Skorpen

THE STORY: In this six-pager set after the events of "Serenity," Jayne Cobb's mother proves she's as tough as her son.

____________

Fridgenotes2promochitbig 2. Notes on a Fridge [on a Spaceship], Vol. 2

AUTHORS: Written and assembled by Arwen Bijker; some artwork courtesy Ursula Vernon.

THE STORY: Arwen's remarkable fan-fiction experiment continues with nine (yes, nine) new notes! Serenity's crew just can't stop arguing via a series of handwritten missives stuck on the ship's fridge.

____________

Serenitypark3teaser 3. Serenity Park #3: Goushi

AUTHORS: conceived by Lux Lucre; comic by Wydraz

THE (now ongoing) STORY: Meet the "South Park"-ized Shepherd Book.

Pretty Much Every 'Firefly' and 'Serenity' Webcomic Reference Ever (We Think)

Pvp1

We promised (threatened?) to do this when we launched Serenity Tales: After the jump, a 37-item 75-item linklist featuring every single webcomic we could find (mostly with the help of Whedonesque and OhNoRobot) that somehow references "Firefly" and "Serenity."

And yes, we're sure we missed a few. Drop us a line with any omissions -- via e-mail or the comments thread.

Passingnotespromo2

Title: NOTES ON A FRIDGE [on a spaceship]

Authors: Written and assembled by Arwen Bijker; some artwork courtesy Ursula Vernon.

The Story: Serenity's crew bickers via a series of notes stuck to the ship's refrigerator and infirmary doors. BONUS: Mal's shopping list.

About the Authors: Arwen Bijker occasionally tortures herself by leaving the house without paper and pen. Besides writing, she competes in endurance riding with her horse, sails on square-rigged ships, and is trying to finish a study in International Communication. She also enjoys photography and writing about herself in third person.

Ursula Vernon is responsible for River's drawings from part 4 and onward. Arwen writes: "What you see in the Notes are some of her sketches -- she also does amazing paintings and digital work, all with a flavour of absurdism I like a great deal. You should go check out her work at www.MetalAndMagic.com."

So you might want to give a shout-out to him -- and to them -- for being cool folk." Artist Elizabeth is her sister.

Bonus feature: Annie also wrote a very lovely 10-page script that needs an artist. Drop us a line if you can help.

Welcome to 'Serenity Tales.' Here's the Big Damn FAQ.

NOTE: Look below this post for the latest entries.

Mal_zoe_color_1

Q. "Serenity Tales"? Is Dark Horse launching a "Firefly" anthology? Squee?

A. Er, no. Sorry. (If only.)

However. Inspired by recent conversations with cartoonist pals, we thought it might be fun to build a website hosting a slew of fan comics set in Joss Whedon's "Firefly" and "Serenity" 'verse.

Think of it as an ongoing anthology book -- along the lines of Dark Horse's "Star Wars Tales" or "Tales of the Slayer" -- only delivered online, free of charge. We'll also link to established comic strips that mention "Firefly" or "Serenity."

Q. Can I submit a story?

A. Well, find out after the jump...
